Yesterday our youngest grandson, Charles, walked the commencement walk at the University of Washington. I'm sad I couldn't have seen this milestone in person, but I rejoice that this very special young man made it through four years of study and holding down a job.
If he had any complaints I never heard them. His Grandpa Charlie and I are bursting with pride! We look forward to some great years ahead for Charles. No he wasn't named for Charlie…his other grandpa is also a Charles. And an older cousin, who goes by "Chuck" is another grandson with that great name. On the Atkinson side the name goes 'way back to an ancestor, my Charlie's great grandfather who was Charles Rook.
When Charles first entered college his Grandpa Charlie asked him what he was going to do. Charles said he would like to find a cure for a disease. Grandpa said, "Find a cure for old age. And make it quick!"
