But when you do appear plan to stay awhile. People at my apartment house are getting cranky with all this rain. (Excuse me, the weather man calls it "showers").
Excuse me? When I shower I want hot water and shower gel. You can keep your partly sunny in the can. I want full sunny and a slight rise in temperature. As in, if we don't get it expect a slight rise in tempers.
So here we are about to launch on another June. June used to mean weddings, roll out the barbecue and burn something, get the shorts and sundresses out of the back of the closet. So far I don't see any reason to do any of the above…And I won't celebrate our wedding anniversary until July. (See? Even 62 years ago we knew better than to have a June wedding).
But there are other things to celebrate in June. This year our youngest grandchild, Victoria, will advance to Junior High School.
This makes me a little sad because it means she is growing up. when I used to hold her on my lap as a toddler I didn't think about the day she'd be wearing eye makeup or a bra or streaks of color in her beautiful dark brown hair. She was a beautiful little girl with bouncy natural curls and a smile that would melt your heart. She will one day be a beautiful woman like her older girl cousins. There are so many wonderful memories I have of all my grandchildren but this was my last shot as a Grandma to get it right. Little Victoria is now Viki to her friends. But she'll always be my little Victoria with her huge brown eyes and dynamite smile. She loves school, her parents, friends and cousins, but best of all she is loved by everyone who knows her.
Just thinking about Victoria and all the grandchildren who preceded her is sunshine enough for this Grandma on a grey spring day. Welcome, June 2010!
