Our daughter, Phyllis, is a little more than a month away from her destination after cycling across the country since May 7. We are excited to see her fulfill her dream of riding a bicycle from coast to coast. If you are in Astoria, Oregon, about Ã…ugust 3 you may see her cross the bridge into Oregon. She'll be the woman in spandex with a big grin on her face. Also the only woman in their group to make it through sheer pedal power 4,469 miles since day one!

We are also proud and excited about another daughter, Teri Girard, who is renting a space at the Port Orchard farmers' market for the summer. A caricature artist, she has drawn thousands of faces over the years. Her style has evolved since she first began drawing at events in southern California many years ago. With a little networking at the market she is now involved in other Port Orchard events including the annual Cruz in August. If you haven't yet had your face done by Teri, who never brings her wrinkle, double chin or grey hair pens to work, get over to these Port Orchard venues and have your "cari" drawn to present to a loved one.

As we approach another summer everything is looking good, including the flowers on my patio. Not so sure if the tomatoes will bear fruit, but, heck--it's still early.

Bear, who lives in the hallway at my front door, will have on his most festive costume of the year for Independence Day before July 4. Happy summer everyone!
