As I was saying…

If I can remember what I said back in June when I last posted something I would repeat it. But since I can't (don't laugh-I fell on my head, yanno!)

My kids tell me I have to stop using that for an excuse. So I guess my failing memory on account of my advanced age, is really the culprit. (Don't laugh-you'll be there one day yourself). I have since discovered Senior Moments turn into Senior Days, and then whole blocks of time, like weeks, are erased.

What bothers me the most are losing things. First it was my computer glasses which causes a severe pain in the neck. So I called Costco where my last pair was purchased and said I needed to order a new pair. Since they would still have my prescription in their computer, it should be no problem.

The nice gentleman in optical told me he couldn't do that unless I had an American Express Card. I would have to make the trip down there. Since I no longer drive, for which all motorists in the area should be thankful, I had to ask a daughter to drive me. She does it lovingly and willingly, but if I keep losing my glasses she will get surly and pretty soon I will be wearing a neck brace, trying to see the monitor through my bi-focals.

The glasses were finally ordered in person thanks to Teri Anne and then it only took another week of neck strain before I found the old ones. Don't ask.

Well go ahead and ask. I'll admit I found them in the bottom of a drawer in my bathroom where I had leaned over trying to find my makeup and they had fallen in. The phone was ringing, I remember, so thought I'll just get them later. And then the old Senior Moment took over and the thought left me. Until I was again rummaging in that drawer, probably looking for my makeup, and there they were.

I called Costco Optical because it hadn't been that long and it usually takes a week or two for them to show up anyway at the local store.

The nice gentleman (it sounded like the same one) said I would have to come in to cancel the order because of the debit card I used (not AmEx). Then he excused himself to check something. In about five minutes he was back on the line, just long enough to hear the whole spiel on hold about why I should shop at Costco and use my American Express card. The good news, I didn't have to come into the store. He could cancel it.

Then there was the conversation the same day I had with my other daughter, who said I might as well go ahead and get the replacement specs because I might lose my glasses again. A spare would be a good ides.

By now Costco was closed so I had to call back the next day to cancel my cancellation of the order. The nice sales person said, "I'm really sorry, Mrs. Atkinson. You will have to come to the store and sign the reorder for the glasses. In my recent experience with this matter, I gave out a groan. The nice man said, "Wait, maybe we can do this. Please hold on a minute while I check something". Sure enough, Mr. Nice Man came back on the line and said I wouldn't have to come in. The last order to cancel the cancellation has been cancelled and they will call me when the glasses are delivered to the store. You will have to come in and get them.

O--KAY! I suppose I could have played the senior citizen card once again and say I don't drive anymore and could he please bring them to my apartment… Nah. I'll quit while I'm ahead. Wait one…where did I put that phone?
