Disregard that last post. I know nothing about athletes or sports.

What I do know about is surviving no matter what life throws at you. A childhood in Chicago in the 30s and 40s before getting on a train to the west coast to live with my Aunt Emma after attending three different high schools. Entering high school in Silverdale at the beginning of my junior year was the beginning of my life in the Northwest for the next 63 years. Charlie Rook and I were married shortly after he had his name legally changed from Stanley Owen because a beloved Grandfather on his mother's side was Charles Rook.

We both survived a teenage marriage, rearing six beautiful children, several significant career changes for both of us, menopause, and devastating illnesses for both of us in our later years . At this point in our marriage I think we're still both in love with each other and life in general. Six wonderful children and nine grandchildren who care about us and each other. Who could ask for more?

Maybe another 20 years of survival and whatever life has in store for this world, this country, this family. How's that for mid-week mushiness!
