I have to admit I never spent much time reading the Sports pages of our family newspaper. Except during baseball season when the Mariners are out there making us all proud. Even when they don't make us proud, we love 'em.
This week (and last) it was all about the Olympics. On stage were a few Pacific Northwest athletes and your favorite Sports Ed. Chuck Stark right there giving us all the great news about our young heroes and heroines.
I know Chuck's column is more op-ed than straight reporting and I wasn't sure what he meant alluding to our favorite skater, Apolo Ohno, being more interested in celebrity than athletic accomplishments (with his "do-rag" and "soul patch").
Aside from that remark, I don't know why he is questioning the validity of women's hockey in the winter Olympic games. He knows more about hockey than I do...a lot more! I read his column twice and guess I must have missed something. Please 'splain it to me Chuck. Why not women's hockey?
