National Poetry Month 2

BYE DAY

The two-year-old girl-child
 Stood on tiptoe to get
A better view of the sun
 Getting ready to set
Her chubby fingers curled
 In tight readiness
As she gazed at the giant
 Globe of glow-i-ness
The golden orange fiery ball
 Was now half spent
Of what it was before
 It began its descent
Then it was gone,
 Down all the way
And Victoria said
  Oh so softly,
   "Bye, Day."

EASY COME EASY GO

Victoria, age 5, was at Grandma's
learning about all kinds of spiders,
Their sizes and shapes,
  if they're stingers or biters.
Their colors and noises
  they make, if any,
And what do they eat?
Have they two legs or many?
If they hide during daytime
  and travel at night.
If they hang out in cellars
'cause they don't like the light.
She suddenly screamed like
  a modern "Ms Muffet"
When a big ugly spider crawled
  onto her "tuffet".
Trying to calm her and
  lessen her fear,
Grandma asked, "What do you do
  when a spider gets near?
"Do you run away quickly
or do you politely greet him?"
Victoria, a Fear Factor Fan, said,
"You could just squish him.
    or....you could eat him!"
